Treatment Philosophy

When faced with a challenging situation with your child, it can be helpful to turn to someone for help, whether your child may be struggling in school, you are facing a family crisis, your child has experienced depression or anxiety, or your family is going through a transition such as divorce, a move, or the death of a family member. As a child psychologist, I specialize in the treatment of children, adolescents, and their families, in the hopes of helping them gain skills that will help not only with their current situation, but in future situations as well. I believe in using a collaborative and goal-oriented approach when working with clients and am committed to helping families improve their functioning. With children six and under, I often use client-centered play therapy, as children often express themselves best through the outlet of play. As children become older and enter adolescence, they are able to express themselves more through “talk therapy.”

In addition to individual and family therapy with children, adolescents, and families, I offer specialized assessment services, including psychoeducational testing for learning disorders, developmental evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD evaluations, sexual abuse evaluations, and evaluations of other behavior and emotional problems.
